Philosophy of Love

March 31, 2008

How LOVE is different from INFATUATION:

•Love brings out the best in us. It inspires excellence. Infatuation inspires mediocrity
•Love is secure and inspires trust. Infatuation is insecure and generates jealousy.
•Love is calm and unhurried. Infatuation is rushed and frenzied.
•Love is socially inclusive-it widens our circle and invites others in. Infatuation is socially exclusive-it closes the circle and keeps others out.
•Love knows romance and spirituality are intertwined and fully compatible.Infatuation believes that romance are separate and incompatible.

WHAT LOVE IS NOT:
•Love is not "falling in love."
•Love is not dependency
•Love is not a feeling
•Love is not an addiction

WHAT LOVE IS:
•Love is an encounter
•Love is a gift
•Love is mature
•Love is discipline
•Love is impowerment
•Love is healing and growth
•Love is an art of listening

What matters in relation to love is faith in one’s own love; in its ability to produce love in others. Productive love always includes CARE, RESPONSIBILTY, RESPECT and KNOWLEDGE.
