Sunday Morning at Matina
June 29, 2008Matina, Davao City- I am here making another blog about another chapter of my life. I am here in Matina to visit my cousin, Dianne. I visited her because I want her to teach me the proper execution of Bed Making. What is Bed Making? Well, it is just one of the tiring task of the nurse to fix a patient’s bed to make him feel comfortable. Tomorrow will be our Return Demonstration and I still got no idea of how is Bed Making done.
Well, I hope Dianne could really help me out with this one. I am really depending on her now.

World of Warcraft: Midsummer Fire Festival
June 23, 2008
Type: Holiday Event
Date: June 21 - July 4
Location: Azeroth and Outland
Tending the Flames
Across Azeroth, brilliant bonfires have been lit to signify the hottest months of the year. The chosen Flamekeepers are eager to ensure they continue burning long into the days and nights of the celebration - and they seek the aid of able explorers in doing so. Traverse the land and delve into dangerous dungeons at their behest. You may return hot, sweaty, and a little sooty…but these spiritual guides understand well the need to reward adventurers beyond the promise of “enlightenment.”
Burning Blossoms
Burning Blossoms are the currency used for the Fire Festival and are used to purchase seasonal reward items from Midsummer Suppliers and Merchants. You can collect Burning Blossoms by completing quests, including the daily quests that are part of the festival. Using them near a Fire Festival Bonfire also grants a temporary but useful buff to your character, or reignites an extinguished bonfire - but consumes the blossom in the process.
Ahune, the Frost Lord
One of the main additions to the Fire Festival this year is a new summonable boss. Level 70 players can undertake this questline that takes you to the Slave Pens to seek and defeat Ahune, the Frost Lord. Ahune is a special summonable boss, similar to the Headless Horseman, that is only available during the Fire Festival. Luma Cloudsister, located just inside the Slave Pens, directs your party to where you can find and defeat Ahune - and loot his special rewards. The loot in Heroic mode is more powerful than on normal mode and includes epic items.
Dancing Around the Ribbon Pole
At every festival camp, one of these traditional decorations stands tall beside the bonfire. Take up one of the multi-colored ribbons and dance around the pole with your friends and fellow celebrants! The activity may appear a bit frivolous for your average ferocious fighter, but even the most seasoned veteran can appreciate the resulting 10% bonus to experience from killing monsters.
Torch Tossing
So you want to be a fire juggler? If you think you have what it takes - the dexterity, the reflexes, the courage - this is your chance to prove it! Take the provided torches and look for the braziers with markers flashing above them. While standing near the bonfire, throw a torch at each brazier as soon a mark appears above it. You must hit the marked brazier before the mark fades if you want credit for the toss. It’s a good idea to place the practice torch on your action bar for easy access. After you have completed this quest, you unlock a follow-up quest to catch torches (below), and subsequently, a daily version.
Torch Catching
After successfully completing Torch Tossing, you’re ready to show that you can not only throw torches, but catch them as well. Take the provided unlit torches and stand near the bonfire. Throw a torch in the air by right-clicking it, then follow its flight path (look for the shadow it casts on the ground) and catch it when it lands. After you catch enough torches, you will unlock a daily version of this quest and Torch Tossing (above) which each grant five Burning Blossoms a day. Additionally, you will be able to toss torches to and catch torches from other players.
Unusual Activity
While celebration has its place, there are graver matters to attend to as well. When the festival began, reports began filtering in from Ashenvale about a sharp increase in Twilight Cult activity. Go to the camp just south of the Blackfathom Deeps entrance, in the ruins, and see if the cultists there will part with this information. This quest line continues on, eventually unlocking a daily quest for ten Burning Blossoms where the objective is to kill a particular enemy NPC.
Honor or Desecrate the Flame
Festival fires burn across the land, in Alliance and Horde settlements alike. If you make time to honor those of your faction, while desecrating those of the opposing faction, you will earn rewards for your efforts. You receive five Burning Blossoms for each same-faction fire you honor and ten for each opposing-faction fire you desecrate, and there are about 30 of each. Each individual fire can only be interacted with once per year. If you find them all, you can collect over 300 Burning Blossoms - which comes in handy if you wish to buy the big prizes. Additionally, if you manage to sneak into an enemy capital city to descecrate their flame, you will be rewarded with gold, a choice of consumable items, and 25 Burning Blossoms. The enemy players and guards likely won’t take too kindly to your efforts, however. To add extra incentive to keeping your flame alive, all friendly players in the vicinity of a lit flame for your faction receive a special buff that grants bonus fire damage with every attack — and this buff gets snuffed out if your flame does.
Fire in the Sky
The lengthy Midsummer Fire Festival traditionally ends with the sky itself being set alight. The goblins of Undermine have lent their considerable skill (and copious amounts of gunpowder) to the task, resulting in a tremendous fireworks show! Take up a festival mug and raise a toast to the season as the multicolored explosions dance across the sky above you!
Acrobat.com
Adobe
, a software company known for graphic-editing program Adobe Photoshop and PDF softwares Adobe Acrobat & Adobe Reader, released Acrobat.com
to the public last June 1. Acrobat.com
is a flash-based document collaboration website, which offers features including online word processing, PDF creation, and even screen-sharing! It is currently at public open beta stage, and requires Adobe Flash Player 9. Certain features may require other Adobe plug-ins and/or programs (e.g. PDF creator requires Adobe Acrobat 9).
Adobe Buzzword is an online word processing program that offers basic features.
Buzzword has a small selection of fonts, but has decent functionality. It has a variety of formatting options, good enough for basic word processing needs. What’s amazing about this program is that it offers quite a lot of file type export options. After working on documents via Buzzword, users can save these documents to their desktop in several file formats including .doc, .xml, .pdf, .txt, .rtf, and even zipped (.zip) HTML files!
Adobe ConnectNow allows desktop viewing, webcam and note sharing, and chatting.
ConnectNow requires an add-in from Adobe, which is a one-time download. It offers desktop-sharing, in which users can show what they’re currently viewing. It also provides a url for the session/meeting, which can be shared to gather more participants. Users may experience slow reaction due to heavy site traffic, or may even have trouble accessing this feature.
Because Acrobat.com has only been released to the public a couple of days ago, lots of users are excited to view its features. If you’ve signed up and visited the site only to find out that you can’t access the program you want because of the site’s limited resources, then check http://health.acrobat.com/
to see if a certain service is up, overloaded by users, or undergoing maintenance.
Breaking Barack fashion news from Italy!
This is very exciting news to start off the first week of summer.
The other day, you may remember, we had a great kerfluffle over Michelle Obama’s revelation on national television that while she does buy and wear some high-priced duds like another presidential candidate’s wife, she just happened to be wearing at that very moment a dress that cost $148.
This was apparently huge news to half the country and could well somehow decide whose husband becomes president of the United States.
Under Michelle’s husband’s tax proposals that $148 could turn out to become more like $174. So to beat the crush thousands of women, who would never be caught dead in the same dress as another woman, were reported to rush out and buy up the entire existing national stock of that dress so they could wear the same dress as another woman. Yeh, well, go figure.
Now, thanks to the Canadian Press, we have just this morning received urgent news from overseas that Italian fashion goddess Donatella Versace has dedicated her entire 2009 Spring-Summer Collection….
…to none other than Barack Obama. First, he gets Jane Fonda’s endorsement. Then, Scarlett Johansson’s. Then, he gets his own official almost-president Great Seal. Now, Donatella.
We’re not making this up and, yes, it’s still 2008 in these 57 states; Italian fashionistas live on the Roman calendar.
Donatella, who may not be immune to the temptations of publicity associated with an American presidential race, described her new men’s line as for "a relaxed man who doesn’t need to flex muscles to show he has power.”
But that’s not all. She had some advice for American candidates on the campaign trail, saying she would ditch all ties and "jazz up the shirt." The Ticket remains uncommitted on jazzed up shirts. But we’re good with the no-tie look. And we’ll watch men’s stores today for no runs on no ties.
About DV’s show the CP also reported:
"Shirts under jackets were either super easy with rolled up sleeves or replaced by a silk T-shirt. The new Versace suit has a structured jacket softened by a double lapel or no lapel at all and slim trousers with slick techno-fabric sheen.
"Crazy zigzags break up the monotony of pinstripes and checks, while the pastel palette gives the collection a warm summer feel."
We’ve actually been saying the exact same thing for years now. Except the pastel part.
TV network paid P3M of P5M paid to Drilon kidnappers–lawyer
MANILA, Philippines — (UPDATE) The television network of a news team that was abducted in Sulu by alleged members of Abu Sayyaf paid P3 million in ransom for the release of their staff, the lawyer for the accused disclosed Monday.
Based on the affidavits submitted by witnesses, ABS-CBN paid the ransom for the release of its reporter Ces Drilon, her two cameramen, and a professor who was supposed to be their guide in the province where they were hoping to secure an interview with a known leader of the Abu Sayyaf, said Firdausi Abbas.
The ABS-CBN money was on top of the P2 million given by the family of Drilon, and another P15 million by still unidentified people who were identified as “Madame X” and Mr. X,” said Abbas, lawyer for the accused Indanan Mayor Alvarez Isnaji and his son Haider.
In a statement released Monday afternoon, however, Bong R. Osorio, ABS-CBN head of corporate communications, said the network “stands by its ‘no ransom’ policy.”
“We are cooperating fully with the police and are confident that any credible and thorough investigation will bear us out,” the statement said.
ABS-CBN had said that it would stick to its no-ransom policy because paying ransom would only "embolden kidnap for ransom groups to abduct other journalists, putting more lives at risk."
On the first day of the Department of Justice’s preliminary investigation Monday, Drilon, her crew Jimmy Encarnacion, and Angelo Valderama were asked if they would submit a supplemental affidavit or would amend the one they had filed as Abbas argued that the affidavits of the victims did not point to the Isnajis as their captors.
Abbas also said the affidavits were not complaints, which would make the kidnapping charges against the Isnajis weak.
Drilon’s camp asked Senior State Prosecutor Minette Delos Santos to reserve the right to submit a supplemental affidavit, which the prosecutor said would be forfeited if they would fail to do so in five days.
Delos Santos also summoned Philippine Star writer, Tanya Lara, for an interview she had conducted with Drilon.
The hearing was reset to either June 30 if Drilon would submit a supplemental affidavit or July 7 if they would not amend their affidavits.
Meanwhile, the Isanjis will continue to stay at Camp Crame’s Custodial Center.
Drilon, her team, and professor Octavio Dinampo were kidnapped by alleged members of the Abu Sayyaf Group last June 8.
Valderama was released last June 12 upon payment of “board and lodging fee” while Drilon, Encarnacion, and Dinampo were freed last June 17.
Authorities had claimed that no ransom was paid.
The Isnajis were accused of pocketing P3 million of the P5 million alleged ransom money and handed over P2 million to the band that had held Drilon.
Razon said bases for this claim were several pieces of evidence gathered by the PNP, including a photo showing the Isnajis and other officials counting the supposed ransom money.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII Development Halted
June 20, 2008 ![]()
According to the Famitsu article (as translated by NeoGaf forum members) the majority of those working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII have been pulled off to go work on the core title. It already takes Square Enix forever to complete a main FF game that it’s ludicrous of them to think they could pull this off. Why they’d ever have separate teams not working on the main game is incomprehensible.
Square Enix has issued a statement to Eurogamer stating that: "Reports that development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold are false," said a representative from Square Enix. "The truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled."
Paris Hilton Can’t Have The Dog!
June 18, 2008
Paris was denied of purchasing a Yorkie pup recently while in Hollywood according to the New York Post. The purpose of trying to buy such an animal was to use it for a photoshoot prop. But an employee on The Puppy Store on Melrose Avenue turned down the rich heiress. Paris wasn’t happy of what happened and screamed:“I love my puppies! I want my baby!”
Does the Hilton heiress deserved to be denied of the dog? What do you think?
Due To Missing Someone Badly
It is very hard to be away from your loved ones. Sometimes, even just a minute away from them makes you miss them so much. Because of missing a beloved person badly, I managed to create these artworks:

If you were missing someone, what are things that you can possibly do about it?
Love Me For What I Am Lyrics
June 17, 2008Artist: Carpenters
We fell in love
On the first night that we met
Together
We’ve been happy
I have very few regrets
The ordinary problems
Have not been hard to face
But lately little changes
Have been slowly taking place
You’re always finding something
Is wrong in what I do
But you can’t rearrange my life
Because it pleases you
(*) You’ve got lo love me
For what I am
For simply being me
Don’t love me
For what you intend
Or hope that I will be
And if you’re only using me
To feed your fantasy
You’re really not in love
So let me go
I must be free
If what you want
Isn’t natural for me
I won’t pretend to keep you
What I am I have to be
The picture of perfection
Is only on your mind
For all your expectations
Love can never be designed
We either take each other
For everything we are
Or leave the life
We’ve made behind
And make another start
Repeat (*)
And if you’re only using me
To feed your fantasy
You’re really not in love
So let me go
I must be free
You’re really not in love
So let me go
I must be free
First Day of School year 2008-2009
June 16, 2008Rainy day. I woke up 5:30am due to a spontaneous vibrating of my pillow. I reached under it and grab the mobile phone. A classmate texted me and asked if what time would I go to school. I replied: "before 7:30" for we haven’t seen our class schedule yet.
At last the rain stopped. After preparing myself, I hurriedly went to school and arrived at exactly 7:56. I ran up to the 3rd floor of our school’s PL building to look at my schedule. I found out that my first class will start at 9:00am.
I still got less than an hour to kill. So here I am writing this post.
Oh, it’s already 8:40 on my watch. I have to go back to school now. Later.
NBA, NHL finals score solid gains for networks
June 11, 2008LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Sports ruled the latest week of television ratings, yet Fox still managed to finish on top, led by its reality programming.
The NBA Finals on ABC and the NHL Stanley Cup Finals on NBC gave the networks some fresh ratings air, with both franchises posting significant year-to-year gains.
The first two games between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics won Thursday (13.4 million viewers and a 5.4 rating/17 share in the key adults 18-49 demographic) and Sunday (13.5 million, 5.5/16). Thursday’s game was up 46 percent, and Sunday’s match was up 62 percent from last year.
NBC’s final two Stanley Cup playoff games last week might have been lower-rated than the basketball games, but they posted even higher year-to-year increases. NBC tied for second place Monday night, with the hockey game up 155 percent (6.3 million, 2.8/9), and won Wednesday with the game up 123 percent (6.8 million, 2.9/9).
Also making headlines last week was the debut of two scripted series: "Swingtown" (8.6 million, 2.8/8) on CBS and "Fear Itself" (5.3 million, 2.0/6) on NBC. The shows were both up against the NBA Finals on Thursday night and posted modest premieres, with "Swingtown" topping "Fear."
Also premiering last week after a four-year absence was ABC’s reality competition series "The Mole" (4.5 million, 1.9/5), which hit a series low.
Overall, Fox won in the key demographic (averaging 6.5 million viewers and a 2.5 rating/8 share), led by "Hell’s Kitchen" (9.4 million, 4.4/12) and "So You Think You Can Dance" (Wednesday: 9.6 million, 3.7/11). ABC was second (averaging 6.1 million, 2.2/7), followed by NBC (5.7 million, 1.9/6). CBS pulled off the trick of being fourth in the demo but winning the week among total viewers (7.2 million, 1.7/5). The CW was fourth (1.8 million, 0.7/2).
Baby Congrats From Costars to Jessica Alba
June 10, 2008![]()
Jessica Alba’s costars Justin Timberlake and Mike Myers in The Love Guru showered the new mom with well-wishes Monday.
"Congratulations Jessica!" said Timberlake at a press day in L.A. for the comedy. "She seems very patient, and I would assume that’s what it takes to be a good mother, a good parent for that matter."
Alba, 27, and her husband Cash Warren, 31, welcomed daughter Honor Marie Warren on Saturday in Los Angeles.
"Honor Marie – that’s a cool name," Timberlake says. "I’m happy for them. It’s beautiful."
"She’ll be a great mother," adds Myers. "She’s smart, she’s talented and she’s one of the most down-to-earth people I’ve ever worked with."
And Guru costar Romany Malco says, "I would see her as being the type of mom who’s hip, hot, and at the same time very stern."
